Bus Stop

I just wrote a paper on the advantages and disadvantages of universities using blogging as a recruitment tool.

As usual, the "advantages and disadvantages" part was completely boring, and in no small part, complete B.S.

There was, however, one interesting portion of the paper, in which I recommended that such a blog be written from the perspective of an everyday student, to alleviate high school students fears about college life.

After I finished the paper, I noticed two major flaws in that recommendation (I didn't, of course, go back and change it. Who do you think you're dealing with here?)

Flaw #1: High school students don't have any fears about college life. All their information about college has come from TV and the "M"-TV, so they think all college involves is campus-wide parties involving beer-puking contests, and chicks walking around everywhere in their underpants, and fun-loving, awkward guys playing pranks on the snobby fraternity snobs, and the old crusty dean who gets what’s coming to him in the end (usually a face full of cake).

So, once again, my old nemesis Television has done me in.

Flaw #2: If the university were to make a blog glorifying the everyday life of a college student, they would actually have to find someone to write it. And, naturally, they would choose me--which, of course, is a major flaw because the whole purpose of the blog would be to share good, insightful information about the university. The problem is my information would be a little too insightful.

For instance, at least twice every post, I would point out the fact that the initials for this institution spell out B.S. University.

Hoho!

(Sorry, Berne, I both recognize and respect your loyalty to Bemidji State, but I couldn't help it. Rare is the opportunity when my subject matter comes close to filling the proverbial circle.)

No problem. I know that BSU is sometimes "BS"U. In fact, I probably know it better than most. HaHa!
