Blogging the Bloggers Part III

Dollarshort.org is a blog that seems self-aware of its own popularity, and in this case it works. Unlike "The Simpsons," whose constant self-references started as fresh and funny but have become increasingly tiresome and occasionally infuriating over the years, Dollarshort has managed to find the right tone with its self-appreciation--at least for now.

Of course, I base all that off of the very first post I read on the site. Perhaps judging an entire weblog on one post isn't the best form of research, but anyone who has read my past posts knows about my feelings on that particular subject. (Haha, I almost made you do research, but I know my readers are too smart to fall for such a lame trick. Maybe the readers of Molly.com would've succumbed to the ploy.)

So, anyway, I'm going to look deeper into the site now to give you a better review upon my return.

Ok, I've returned. (The beauty of saying that is you don't know whether I'm telling the truth or not. I could have spent hours perusing the pages of Dollarshort in an effort to give you a thorough understanding of the site, or I could've written, "Ok, I've returned" a mere second after the previous sentence. And you'll never know, unless I tell you. Which I will right now, cause I'm terrible at keeping meaningless secrets. The truth is, I wrote, "Ok I've returned," right after the previous sentence. But I'm really going this time. I swears it.)

Ok, I'm really back this time (hehe). The most interesting thing I found was that most of his webloggy postings (shorter, informal posts with intermittent links) were found on a completely different site that he links to and advertises for at the very top of his homepage. The site I'm referring too is Not a Dollarshort, an obvious sister site, and one where the postings are more frequent.

It was at the Not a Dollarshort site that I found the post about Back to the Future Kubricks. Apparently the author is a big "Back to the Future" fan (very cool), and he learned that a toy store in San Francisco makes Kubricks out of all the characters. I've never heard of Kubricks, but the author provided pictures, and as best I can tell, Kubricks are just Lego ripoffs with a misleading name. In fact, I wonder if Kubricks make characters from other movies, and if you have to ask "Which movies?" it's not even worth explaining.

But the fact that Kubrick makes "Back to the Future" characters, coupled with the fact that the author wrote about the previous fact, led to the fact that I said "fact" way too much in that sentence. Also, I think that Not a Dollarshort is a pretty fresh and relevant site.

Speaking of fresh and relevant site, I know my legions of fans must be wondering what's happening here. (Actually, because my readers are, on average, significantly brighter than other readers, they've probably guessed what's going on here. But for the sake of anyone who might've just wandered onto the site, I'll continue.) Here's what's happening--this whole site is a sham. Well, it's not a sham per se, but I am doing it for a college class, which is the equivalent of doing it for The Man. And, of course, doing things for The Man lends itself to certain obligations (assignments) which is why I've been reviewing other blogs for the past few days.

But never fear. The Reinman will soon be back to original form, guaranteed to delight, inform, and occasionally offend the most faintest of hearts (farts). It will be a cow's udder delight. (Man, I hope nobody made it this far.)
