Blogging the Bloggers Part II
The Bradlands is unlike any blog I've seen before. That's not hard, though, because this only the second day I've been searching the net for weblogs. It's interesting because the first page gives you three different places you could go--Must See HTTP://, The Daily Brad, and Words. These three sections could loosely be associated with the three different types of weblogs--filters, blog, and notebook--though I don't believe they are perfect matches. The first page also has sections labled About Me, Fascinations, and Scrapbook. I will look into those if the first three sections don't afford me at least 500 words.
So, without further Apu, I present to you, The Bradlands.
Level 1 - Must See HTTP://
This section annoyed me right off the bat because of the close proximity of the title to NBC's Must See TV--the Thursday night lineup that showed "Friends" for all those years. I hate "Friends." All right, now that I’ve managed to infuriate my interior female readership (and those that weren’t offended by my friends remark, may be offended that I implied that all females watch friends—it’s a win/win) I will continue with my review of this filter-style section of The Badlands.
Well, at least I think it’s a filter. You should go there and see for yourself.
Ok, I actually just went there and saw for myself. The first few entries I saw, made it look like a filter, in that it only had a few web addresses and not much more, but as I continued to look around that section, I noticed increasingly longer and longer commentary for each section. So let that be a lesson for all you internet newbies: “Never look deeper into anything—it will only make more work for you.” I mean, look at me. I was perfectly content thinking that the section was a filter. Now, that I looked deeper, I have to decide if it’s a filter or a conventional weblog.
I think the only way to figure this out is by looking at the next section and determining what that is, because I don’t see my good friend Brad making redundant sections.
Level 2 – The Daily Brad
The Daily Brad is really what brought me to the site. I was looking around at different blogs I could go to, and I saw, "The Daily Brad" and I thought, "Huh, that is mildly clever." So I went there. And you know what? The section itself is mildly clever too. I do have one beef with it though (is that the right terminology? "beef"?), there was only one entry on the first page, unlike the many entries you can expect to find on most weblog pages, and I had a difficult time trying to find other interesting entries. It was almost as if Brad didn't want me to receive my daily portions of his wit. Furthermore, such inconvienience may prevent me from visiting the site again. As a seasoned blogger, I say, "Shame on you, Brad. Shame on you."
Level 3 - Words
When I first looked at the website and its three sections, I thought Words was going to be the boringest section. And it was. It's basically a collection of longer writings he's composed. Some are amusing, others are not. But because I'm over 500 words, and I've already given you a pretty good idea of what goes on at The Bradlands, I don't think I'm going to get too heavily into those.
So, once again, I must say, if you're truly looking for a good blog to go to, just go to mine. (Especially after I'm done talking about other people's sites.)
